I have been an animal fanatic since before I was old enough to understand that they weren't people too. My love of all creatures great and small, combined with a penchant for colorful, whimsical things, was fueled by my parents. My dad surprised me with a fluffy little spitz puppy when I was 10-years-old. Kizzy, a white puff of a dog, was my best friend and I trained her to do all kinds of things, but mostly she just pulled me around the neighborhood on my skateboard and dug up the garden in our back yard. My mother's green thumb and artistic spirit inspired the artist and plant lover in me. During junior high, when most of my friends were at the beach or summer camps, my parents drove me back and forth to volunteer at the local SPCA in Fayetteville, NC. I spent most of my summers picking ticks off dogs and cats, and convincing my parents to help me save as many death row inmates as possible. I have since been a mom to many dogs, fish, cats, and one rabbit named Norton.
For most of my life I've worked in one creative capacity or another. I painted background sets for cable TV shows in Tampa, FL. I've also designed gigantic stage settings for Yamaha Motor Sports and Criss-Craft dealer sales events, traveling all over the country doing it. I've been a pet and family portrait photographer, a live events photographer, a creative director, an illustrator and a copy writer. I even hosted a kids TV show for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Fox Kids Club back in a way way way far off time ago. All these amazing experiences ultimately led me to Livy & Company. (After I learned how to sew, that is. )
I now spend my days working from home in a big ol' country house in Greer, SC, where I dye my own fabrics, make my own products and am always tinkering on designs for whatever new bright shiny idea pops into my brain. My staff consists of three little dogs and two giant parrot fish named Pearl and Puff, because my husband is a Sponge Bob Square Pants fan. I've found my ultimate joy designing and hand making things for the best pet and people customers in the universe. They fuel my fire and give me purpose - and I hope I get to do this for the rest of my life.
Olivia, AKA "Livy", is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix. She provides more than inspiration in our home. She also provides expert ear-cleaning services and is an alert hall monitor. Nothing gets by those bat ears. She's loud and bossy but her thankful heart shines sweet and bright after being rescued from a life on the streets in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Emmett's biggest wish is for longer legs. But besides that, he's always happy and arguably the sexiest little weenie, with the cleanest ears, in the universe.
Ida is the newest member of our crew. We found her at Happy Dog Rescue in Pelzer, SC. It took her a year before she decided we were kind of ok.
Now, we can't remember anything before her. She keeps us all on the straight and narrow.
And we all fit together like one big, crazy, colorful Chi-Weenie human puzzle.
We love our customers, so feel free to reach out to us at any time.
